Important Information regarding COVID-19
Risk Assesment, club measures and venue measures for COVID-19 safe karate training.
All recreational clubs must develop a written COVID-19 plan and risk assessment prior to activity. Cobra Karate has implemented the following Risk Assessment and safety measures which run alongside the national association’s COVID-19 Safety Policy
COVID-19 Risk Assessment and Safety Measures
Online Booking System
Classes will have a capacity limit in order to maintain social distancing. Classes will be pre-booked online with limited places available. No further booking will be accepted once capacity is reached. Students will not be able to turn up for a class without pre-booking. Bookings are made at https://cobrakarate.youcanbook.me This online booking form collects contact data which will be passed to NHS and Public Heath England on request as part of their Track and Trace program, in the event of a positive COVID case involving a student.
Pre-payment for classes
Online bookings will be paid for online to maintain a cashless system and social distancing. If this is problematic, please contact the club directly.
Temperature Checks
Pre-booked students will wait in the car park before the class, maintaining a 2 metre distance. Students will have their temperature taken with a no-touch infrared temperature gun (EU approved within 0.001 degree accuracy). Any student with a temperature reading of 37.9 or above will not be allowed to attend the class or even enter the building. They will be sent home and refunded for the class.
Hand Sanitising
I have purchased a mobile hand sanitising station that will be assembled at every class. This station contains a no-touch sensor dispenser that dispenses hospital grade sanitiser. Students will be required to sanitise their hands before entering the hall.
Social Distancing in Class
Distance markers will be used in class to mark a student’s training area. These plastic marker discs are similar to those used in football and can be seen here
Footwear
Specialist training shoes are available for existing students and are recommended but not compulsory. Outdoor shoes will not be worn in the hall and will instead be placed in the student’s kit back that stays with that student. The training shoes are machine washable.
Partner Work
Only siblings. people from the same household or students in a professional bubble will be permitted to train together, until government advice permits otherwise. When government advice permits co-operative training, students will train with the same partner throughout the duration of the class (no rotation).
Equipment
When government advice permits co-operative training, focus pads will form part of student’s own kit. There will be no sharing of club equipment. All equipment is sterilised with disinfectant spray after every class (this was always done pre-COVID anyway).
Parents and Spectators
No spectators or parents are permitted in class (unless they are students with a booked place)
Clean-Down
We disinfect and protect any high touch or used areas following the class – including the hall door handles, sink taps etc, I use Zoono Z71 commercial grade Microbe Shield surface spray and protector which lasts for up to 30 days. Developed by a company in New Zealand, Z71 Microbe Shield surface sanitiser prevents cross-contamination and is 99.99% effective against coronavirus COVID-19. It is used by the NHS, Transport for London, on cruise ships and in food manufacturing. It complements existing cleaning routines and maintains a protective micro-film on surfaces.
